Mouth-Watering Baked Pumpkin Seeds
This is a delicious fall favorite as the kids are carving the pumpkins it's super easy to get ready. Not everyone is a fan of pumpkin seeds but they are a great source of zinc which helps fight the seasonal colds going around. I tell the kids that I only make delicious food so this always gets them curious if I actually followed through. Try this recipe out and let me know what your kids say!
Equipment
- 1 bowl
- 1 cookie sheet
Ingredients
- 1 pumpkin
- 2 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 cooking spray
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
Instructions
- Take all the insides of the pumpkin and put them in a bowl. If you want to take just one pumpkin that's fine but you can use all the pumpkins your children carve with this recipe.
- Make sure to wash thoroughly and get all the chunks and strings out as much as possible. Rinse really well and drain.
- (Optional) If you want to make this into a longer recipe you can let the pumpkin seeds soak overnight in salt water. Just fill the bowl with fresh water and add 2 Tbsp of salt.
- If you don't soak the seeds overnight that is also fine. Spray down the cookie sheet pan. You can also cover the pan with aluminum foil and spray down the foil for easy cleanup.
- In the bowl add 1 Tbsp of salt, garlic powder, and olive oil. Mix thoroughly. Spread as evenly as possible on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle the last Tbsp of salt over the top of the spread-out pumpkin seeds. ( I like mine really salty so adjust the salt according to your preferences.
- Pre-heat the oven at 350 °F
- When the oven is ready put the seeds in for 25/30 minutes or until browned. About 15 minutes into the cooking time check on the seeds and if you can stir them around. Usually, the outside of the pan cooks faster than the inside. stir to keep the cooking even. If the seeds still look soft and white cook a while longer until golden and crispy.
- Allow the seeds to cool down before serving. Enjoy!
